Rebecca Bell Derryberry Harmon, 95, longtime resident of Bear Creek Pike, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at NHC Place, Cool Springs. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Krista Koleas and Bobby Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer’s Association, 478 Craighead St #200, Nashville, TN 37204. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 25, 1923 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Alexander Derryberry and the late Virgie Huckaby Derryberry. On December 7, 1946, she married Millard “Bill” Harmon who preceded her in death September 13, 1995. Mrs. Harmon was a 1943 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Business College in Nashville. She was a homemaker and former secretary at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a talented seamstress, making her children’s clothes throughout the years; and she made both her daughters’ wedding dresses and bridal party dresses. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed working in her yard. Mrs. Harmon was a member of Berea Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Darlene Harmon (Keith) Koleas of Franklin, Betty Harmon (Donald) Goad and Bobby (Linda) Harmon, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Kari (Tom) Every, Krista Koleas, Kam (Leann) Koleas, Hayden Potts, Rebecca (Michael) Gilbert, Tiffany Goad, Ben (Kerri) Harmon; great grandchildren, Braeden Koleas, Lily Koleas, Kaitlin King, Gracie King, Ava Gilbert, Austin Salas, Annyston Harmon, Grace Harmon, Wade Harmon, Lexi Rittenberry; brother-in-law, Clifford Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Salas; sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Ludie Burns; and brother, Wayne Derryberry. Active pallbearers will be Kam Koleas, Braeden Koleas, Ben Harmon, Austin Salas, Tom Every, and Keith Markham. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Derryberry, Jay Burns, and Cliff Johnson.
