View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Adell Kelley Cates, 93, resident of Sunset Lane, died Monday, November 5, 2012 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Paul officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Santa Fe Cemetery c/o Norman Harris, 3929 Sowell Hollow Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert Eugene Kelley and Ethel Steward Kelley. On July 15, 1939 she married Bennie Thomas Cates who preceded her in death March 17, 1994. Mrs. Cates was a homemaker and an excellent cook. She also enjoyed flower gardening. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Elmer (Sue) Kelley of Water Valley; sister, Louise Beasley of Tyler, Texas; brother-in-law, Homer Flowers of Nashville; nieces and nephews, Larry Flowers, Tommy Westmoreland, Jimmy Kelley, Cynthia Wherry, Carol Lyman, Deborah McClure, Sandra McCord, Brenda Barnes, Nancy Westmoreland, Marsha Sparks, Barbara Liner; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Annie Cates; sisters, Mamie Westmoreland, Mary Westmoreland, Christine Hunt, Lillie Flowers; and a brother, Preston Kelley. Active pallbearers will be Nathan Paul, Daniel Paul, Jon McDonald, Andy Witter, Dan Bostwick and Larry Flowers. Nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
