Edna Agnes Glover Hooie, age 93, of Columbia, Tennessee, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 5, 2025, after a brief illness.

She was born March 29, 1932 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, to the late John D. and Sallie Ann Pettus Glover. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers, George W. and J.D. Glover, two sisters-in-law Faye Glover and Delphine Glover.

Agnes, a 1951 graduate of Lexington High School, was a home maker and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, all types of needle work and taking care of her family and friends; all skills she learned as a depression-era sharecroppers’ daughter and she was happy to pass on to any wishing to learn. She was a collector of many beautiful things….bells from all over the world, dolls and glassware. She loved a good yard sale!!

She married Lavon Hooie, the love of her life, on April 28, 1955. They celebrated 70 years of marriage with family and friends earlier this year. He survives her along with daughter Terry (Darryl) Deason of Murfreesboro, son Donald G. (Shalena) Hooie of Crossville, grandchildren Tara (Justin) Winton, Erin (Sloan) Walters, Nicholas (Emily) Saunders Hooie and Faith (Thomas Taylor) Hooie and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Agnes was a longtime member of Riverside United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the Jim Hewgley Sunday School Class and the Happiness Circle. She assisted with many church bazaars, bake sales and breakfasts over the years. She loved her church and her church family.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Marston officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home, 320 W. 7th Street, Columbia, TN.
