View Video TributeMrs. Agnes Marie McFadden Usery, 91, longtime resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Smith and Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4- 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 1 - 2:00 p.m. in the church atrium. Mrs. Usery was born on June 20, 1922, in Gibson County the daughter of the late Jessie Cleveland McFadden and Virgie Lillian Parham McFadden. On April 25, 1942, she married John Thomas Usery, Jr. They moved to Columbia in 1945 following his tour of duty in the Army. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church having joined on March 5, 1947. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Women and the Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class. Survivors include her children, John Thomas (Lucyara) Usery, III of Spring Hill; daughter, Joy Usery (Hugh) Erwin of Columbia; grandchildren, Melanie Erwin (Brian) Peery of the Catheys Creek Community, John Bradley (Amanda) Erwin of Columbia; step-grandchildren, Debbie (Gwin) King of Lebanon, Tracy (Irene) Lynn of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Gracen Mae Erwin, Emelia Catherine Peery, Wyatt Bradley Erwin; and step-great-grandchildren, Christy Steele, Misty Matheson, Katie Stephens, T.J. Stephens, Billie Dean Lynn and Heather Drocea. She was preceded in death by a brother, Royce Wilkins McFadden. Active pallbearers will be Brad Erwin, Jack Brunson, Ron Rogers, Wayne Akin, James Richard Akin, Michael McFadden, Brian Peery, David Ursery, Billy Ursery and Danny Ursery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class.
