View Video TributeMr. Jones Alonzo Himes, 62, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at his residence on the Pulaski Highway in the Stiversville Community. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Webb Hill Himes and Mattie Virginia Runions Himes. He retired after twenty-five years as an equipment operator for the City of Columbia. Mr. Himes was an avid collector of knives and enjoyed farming and gardening. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Connie Jean Pulsipher Himes of Culleoka whom he married November 30, 1985; step-sons, Tony Hill of Columbia, Danny (Natalie) Hill of Nashville; brothers, William Himes of Culleoka, Thomas Himes of Giles County, Robert Himes of Arizona; sisters, Bessie Scott of Hampshire, Catherine Emler of Culleoka; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Himes Shrader and two brothers, James Webb Himes and Edward Louis Himes. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Burns, Marvin Emler, Ronnie Potts, Havil Himes, Clifton Himes, Chris Harville, Junior Kelley, Paul Vaughn and George Runions. Employees of the City of Columbia will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
