Andrew Jackson "Jack" Hayes 83, retired lab supervisor for Union Carbide Corporation, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his residence on Martin Hollow Road in the Campbell Station Community. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Glen Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Red Cross, 302 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401. Army during World War II and attended Columbia Business College. He was a member of Campbell Station Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wilma Grace Harris Hayes; daughters, Linda (Steve) Luna and Susan (Tommy) Brown of Culleoka and Vicki (Dean) Pickinpaugh of Columbia; son, Dennis (Sarah) Hayes of Columbia; grandchildren, Andy Luna, John (Nicki) Luna, Stephanie Wortham, Jennifer (Mike) Goldman, Harold (Jessika) Brown, Chase (Stacey Evoy) Brown, Sarah Beth (Jim) Gill, Rachel (Andrew) Greer, Martha Ruth Hayes, Kristin (Chris) Clark, and Elizabeth McMeen; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Imogene and Ewell B. Harris; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. Active pallbearers are Steve Luna, Tommy Brown, Dean Pickinpaugh, Chase Brown, Harold Brown, John Luna, and Andy Luna. Honorary pallbearers include Martha and Porter Black, Teresa Cash, and Union Carbide Corporation retirees.
