View Video TributeAnita Clay Jones, 52, General Motors employee and resident of Cumberland Drive, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home. The Jefferson County, Alabama native was the daughter of Glen and Joyce Johnson of Meridian, Mississippi and William Hurshell Clay of Memphis. She earned an Associates Degree from Meridian Mississippi Community College and was a thirty year employee of General Motors. In addition to her parents she is survived by a daughter, Daphne (Stan) Fortner of Columbia; son, Darrell (Calli Johnson) Jones of Nashville; a very special granddaughter, Rilynn Fortner of Columbia; sisters, Emiee Clay of Memphis, Teresa Nester of Meridian, Mississippi; brothers, Heath Clay of Memphis, Tony Johnson of Meridian, Mississippi; grandmother, Nina Clay of Summerville, Alabama; very special friends, Bud and Nancy Wiser of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Milburn and Norma Barger, Hubert Clay and Lee and Ava Johnson. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Michael Neuss and the staff at Vanderbilt Cancer Center.
