View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Anne Marie Murphy Gibson, 88, widow of L.E. "Hoot" Gibson, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Brighton Gardens of Brentwood. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Danny Douglas and Mike Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Columbia Academy, 1101 West 7th St., Columbia, TN, 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Clarence Hayes Murphy and Kate King Murphy. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School and retired from Columbia Mill and Elevator where she was employed for thirty years. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Northview Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Sandra (David) Hardison of Lexington, Kentucky; son, Neal H. (Kay) Gibson of Nashville; grandsons, Jonathan (Kristen) Hardison, Matthew (Andrea) Hardison, Benjamin (Morgan) Hardison; great-grandson, Sam Hardison; sisters, Dorothy Edwards and Carolyn Douglas both of Mt. Pleasant; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Hayes Murphy, Katheryn Edwards and Sara Murphy. Active pallbearers will be John D. Edwards, Paul Gibson, Doug Kinnard, Jonathan Hardison, Matthew Hardison, Benjamin Hardison and Hendley Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Potts, Mrs. Ray Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sellers, Mrs. T.W. Love and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hardison. Mrs. Gibson's family wishes to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Brighton Gardens of Brentwood.
