Born April 16, 1938, in the Water Valley Community of Maury County, Archie was the daughter of the late Arch Lipscomb Houser and the late Annie Lee Dodson Houser. She was known for her hardworking spirit, devotion to family, and caring heart. In her younger years, Archie took great pride in keeping a spotless home and preparing weekly meals that brought family together around the table. More than anything, her greatest joy in life was spending time with those she loved most.
On January 25, 1959, she married the love of her life, the late Stanfill Farris, and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and community.
She is survived by her sons, Stan (Pattie) Farris and Steve (Stacey) Farris; granddaughters, LeAnna (Chris) Landwehr and Makenna (Wade) Park; great-grandchildren, Lakelyn Landwehr and Kye Landwehr; sisters, Carol Jean (Carl) Sellers and Charlotte Gray; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory for years to come.
In addition to her parents and husband, Archie was preceded in death by her grandsons, Paxton Farris and Brandon Farris; brother, Nelson Houser; and brother-in-law, Bob Gray.
Active pallbearers will be John Thyen, Byran Farris, Darryl Gray, Andy Pogue, Tommy Edwards, and Jim McElhaney. Honorary pallbearers will be the past and present employees of Middle Tennessee Bone & Joint, now known as Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance (TOA) Columbia.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the many family members and friends who offered love, support, and care during Archie’s final months. Special appreciation is extended to Carol Jean and Carl Sellers, Charlotte Gray, Wendy Edwards, Jill Thyen, Carline Bell, Beverly Linville, and the compassionate staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center for the tremendous love and care shown to Archie and her family.
