Mr. Martin Arnold "Peebs" Peebles, Jr.75, retired long-time attorney and resident of Franklin, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A memorial service for Mr. Peebles will be conducted Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jerry Colley and Reverend Joe Evans officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born June 11, 1938 in Maury County he was the son of the late Martin Arnold Peebles, Sr. and Kathryn Regen Peebles. Mr. Peebles served in the U. S. Army and attended the Presbyterian Church.Survivors include his son Martin Holt (Heather) Dotterweich of Bristol; grandchildren, Peter and Kathleen Dotterweich both of Bristol; two nephews, Bascom Regen (Julie) Peebles, Jr. of Michigan, John Arnold (Alisha) Peebles of Memphis; a great niece, two great nephews, and severalcousins and friends who loved him dearly including Richard Wagster, Page Chamberlain, and Bettye Sharpton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bascom Regen Peebles, Sr. Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society, c/o Joy Day, 341 Cool Springs Blvd., Suite 430, Franklin, Tennessee 37067 or the charity of your choice.
