View Funeral WebcastBarney Evans Cannady, 85, retired truck driver with AmeriGas and longtime resident of Tanyard Hollow Road in the Campbell Station Community, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the home of his son. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes &Nichols Funeral Home with Adam Southern and Pastor Jerry Yerkes officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Alzheimer's Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220 or Campbell Station Community Center, c/o Ed Kerr, 2940 Dodson Gap Road, Culleoka, TN 38451. Born March 9, 1929 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Robert Frank Cannady and Hassie Weatherford Cannady. On January 17, 1953 he married the former Daisy Lee Pearl Skinner who preceded him in death on March 20, 2013. Mr. Cannady served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed raising beef cattle and was very devoted to farming. He was a member of Campbell Station Church of Christ where he had previously served as Treasurer and an Elder. Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Kaye (Mike) Fischer of Nashville; sons, Don (Elaine) Cannady of the Rally Hill Community; Tim Cannady of Culleoka; two sisters, Evelyn Hickman of Columbia and Valda Cannady of Culleoka; grandchildren, Todd Cannady, Kara (Jason) James, Patrick Fischer, Steven Cannady, and Jacob Cannady; great grandchildren, Dallas Cannady, Tyler Cannady, Lauren Cannady, Bryce Cannady, Madison James, and Haylee James; sister-in-law, Margaret Cannady of Culleoka; and numerous family members of his extended Skinner family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Williams; and brothers, Joe Cannady, Shirley Cannady, and Dennis Cannady. Active pallbearers will be Patrick Fischer, Steven Cannady, Jacob Cannady, Dallas Cannady, Tyler Cannady, Robert Cannady, and A. J. Riddle. Honorary pallbearers will include the employees of Lynch Equipment Sales and The Trailer Store.
