Mrs. Susie Belle Bryant Cheatham, 95, resident of Theta Pike, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Emily Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ezra Bryant and Minnie Denton Bryant and attended school in the Culleoka Community. She was a long-time member of Central Presbyterian Church. She was married December 21, 1935 to Frank Thomas Cheatham who died September 22, 1964. Mr. and Mrs. Cheatham made their home and operated a store in the Glendale Community for many years.She was retired from the Holiday Inn where she worked on the reception desk for many years. Later, she was receptionist for the Maury County Senior Citizens Center and more recently, secretary for Harvest Share Food Bank until January of this year. She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Thomas "Buddy" Cheatham in 1957; and sisters, Doris Bryant Pennington and Hazel Bryant Carey. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Lee "Sissy" Keen of Knoxville; a son, Bill (Linda) Cheatham of Columbia; grandchildren, Lara Keen of Knoxville, Bryant (Suzanne) Cheatham of Spring Hill, Bruce (Brandy) Cheatham of Columbia, Brandon Cheatham of Columbia, Lindsay (Zed) Woodley of Memphis, and Benton (Summer) Cheatham of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lunn, Payton Allen, Keely Allen, Isabelle Cheatham, Kannon Cheatham, and Cullen Cheatham; special friends, Peggy Walter, Esther Sanford, Donna Davaloz, and Rachel Dale. Active pallbearers are Darrell Walker, Bryant Cheatham, Bruce Cheatham, Brandon Cheatham, Benton Cheatham, and Zed Woodley. Honorary pallbearers include Alton Walker, Charles Martin, and Joe Cecil Crews.
