View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Bennie Alexander Whitley, 78, employee of Whitley Upholstery, died Friday, August 3, 2012 at his residence on Cemetery Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Pruitt, Frankie Hancock, and David Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Wilburn Phinis Whitley and Nellie Ophelia Maddox Whitley. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two brothers, Otis (Mildred) Whitley and Wilburn (Tamiko) Whitley, Jr., both of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie B. Whitley and Grady Whitley; and three sisters, Dorothy Whitley, Mary Whitley Counts, and Sadie Whitley Hancock. Active pallbearers will be Mike Whitley, Frankie Hancock, Josh Hancock, David Hancock, Ethan Hancock, and Hubert Mitchell. Allen Pressnell will serve as honorary pallbearer.
