Mrs. Bernice Harrell McPeak, 88, resident of 3rd Avenue, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Sterling House. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Neapolis Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Rutherford County native was the daughter of the late James Franklin Harrell and Edna Hudson Harrell. On August 30, 1947 she married Searcy McPeak who preceded her in death May 7, 2007. The McPeak family lived and worked on the Middle Tennessee Experiment Station property for thirty-eight years. Mrs. McPeak was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Patsy (Ray) Williams of Columbia; grandsons, Brian (Star) Williams of Columbia, Randy (Judith) Hudgins of Lavergne; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Williams, Abby Williams, Benton Williams, Zachary Hudgins and Brandon Hight. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Hudgins, brothers, Howard Harrell and Ben Harrell, and a sister, Ruby Harrell McPeak. Pallbearers will be Scott Helgren, Jeff Helgren, Larry Watson, Steve Watson, Ricky McPeak and Gerry McPeak.
