Mrs. Bessie Huntington Lankford Bass, 95, retired employee of Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Michigan, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Michigan where she had made her home for the past several years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Shelton and Edward Roupe officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert Lankford and Bertha Dabbs Lankford. In 1944 she married Robert Bass who preceded her in death on September 23, 1996. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two nieces, Bobbye J. (Scott) Ludden of Santa Fe and Betty Stanley of Knoxville; four great nieces, Kim Holt, Tammy (Gary) Hibben and Tracy Soulby, all of Knoxville; Deborah (Jim) Dotson of Santa Fe; great nephew, Willie "Randy" (Wanda) Roberts of Santa Fe; and several great great nieces and great great nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Billie Matlock, Beatrice Lankford, Pauline Lankford, and Georgia Jordan; and one brother, Herbert Lankford.
