Betsy Duncan Goodwin

January 23, 1945 — February 17, 2014

Mrs. Betsy Ann Duncan Goodwin, 69, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at her residence on Parsons Bend Road. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert E. Duncan, Sr. and Alice Josephine Morrow Duncan and was a 1963 graduate of Hampshire High School. On June 27, 1963 she married Ray Goodwin of Columbia who survives. Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker who loved to crochet, sew, cook and enjoyed canning the vegetables she and her husband grew on their farm. Most of all she loved taking care of their son. She was a member of the Baptist faith. In addition to her husband Mrs. Goodwin is survived by her son, Markus Ray Goodwin of Columbia; sisters, Bobbie Harmon of Columbia and Sue Hurt of Michigan; brothers, R.E. Duncan, Jr. and Joe Dayton (Rebecca) Duncan both of Hampshire, Donald Duncan and Ronald Duncan both of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jackie Dugger, Dorothy Armstrong and a brother, Ray Duncan. Pallbearers will be Terry Prince, Rick McDonald, Tommy Mayberry, Don Fly, Larry Powell and Mike Floyd.
