Mrs. Betty Ann Butler Hurt, 83, resident of the Nashville Highway, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Neapolis United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 24, Spring Hill, Tennessee 37174. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Walter Neil Butler, Jr. and Mattie Louise Edwards Butler. She had been employed several years ago at Spring Hill School cafeteria, had helped run the concession stand for Ben Gary Realty & Auction and was an excellent cook and helpmate to her husband in their farming operation. She enjoyed volunteering with the Maury County Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Hurt was a member of Neapolis United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Maurice Glenn "Bud" Hurt of Columbia, whom she married January 31, 1953; sister, Martha Butler (James) Lee of Spring Hill; brothers, James E. (Ethel) Butler, Joe B. (Emily) Butler, Jack (Wanda) Butler all of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Brenda (Cary) Blue, Linda (Bill) McMillin; Janet Butler (Phil) Sutherland, David (Kara) Butler, Mike (Sonya) Butler; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Reed Butler. Active pallbearers will be David Butler, Mike Butler, Cary Blue, Bill McMillin, Phil Sutherland, Jason Dodson, Edgar Chumley and Ricky Daniels. Honorary pallbearers include members of Neapolis United Methodist Church.
