Betty Jo Prince Clark, 90, retired employee of JCPenny, and resident of the Sawdust Community, passed away peacefully Monday, January 19, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with family members presiding over the service, assisted by Pastor Lawrence Jackson. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born August 31, 1935 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lonzo Prince and the late Stella Mae Isabell Prince. She was a 1953 graduate of Columbia Central High School. On November 16, 1952 she married her high school sweetheart, James Martin Clark, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2020. She loved gardening, flowers, cooking for her family, and her Dobermanns Lady, Lily, and Lacy. Mrs. Clark was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol (Jeff) Helgren of Santa Fe; Renea (Jeff) Foster of Santa Fe; Valerie (Rodney) Patterson of Columbia; and Laurie (Bill) Brooks of Columbia; grandchildren, Megan (Josh) Lancaster, Amber Clark, Katelyn Clark, Jessica (Shelby) Carpenter, Ryan (Bianca) Helgren, Haley Foster, Morgan (Brady) Hausler, and Emalee Brooks; great grandchildren, Kiptyn Lancaster, Kislynn Lancaster, Warren Helgren, Jesse Hausler, and Samuel Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Marty Clark; brothers, Rayburn, Russell, Evans, and Fred Prince; and sister, Sammie Helen Ledford.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Prince, Bobby Prince, Pat Prince, Dwight Ledford, David Ledford, Ryan Helgren, Shelby Carpenter, and Brady Hausler.
The family wants to express a special thanks to her sitters Shirley and Peggy, and the staff at Compassus for all of the love and care they gave.
