View Funeral WebcastMrs. Betty Jean Johns Rankin, 84, homemaker and resident of Bailey Street, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Thomas Vann, Sr. and Pastor Angy Trimmer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 -7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, 907 Hatcher Lane, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Giles County she was the daughter of the late Maynard Johns and Mae Boatwright Johns. On June 1, 1951 she married Fulton Rankin who preceded her in death November 23, 2014. She attended Columbia Business College. Mrs. Rankin enjoyed reading, crocheting, and gardening. She was member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Barry Rankin of Columbia; grandson, Steven Rankin of Columbia; and brother, Jerry (Betty) Johns of Columbia. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include members of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, Dr. Steven Woodley, Dr. Houston Jameson, infusion nurses and staff of the Maury Regional Medical Center Cancer Center.
