Betty M. Savage Wales, 82, a resident of Culleoka, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Glendale Methodist Church located at 1423 Culleoka Hwy, Columbia, Tennessee 38401. Condolences can be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born in Giles County, TN on August 1, 1943 in the Pigeon Roost community, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Savage and the late Margaret Elizabeth Griffis Savage. Mrs. Wales was a retired dietary aide for patients at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was a loyal and dedicated member of Glendale Methodist Church in Culleoka, TN. Mrs. Wales loved going to church and worshiping with her church family. She loved reading her Bible every night before she went to sleep. She always said that was her time of peace and her own personal relationship with God. She set a goal for herself to finish reading all the books in the Bible, unfortunately the last book she was able to complete was I Corinthians 13:1-13.
After every Sunday morning church service one of her most favorite things to do was to visit her oldest son Monty and they would just sit and talk and drink coffee together, she really cherished those Sunday morning visits. She always remained close to all her children and always showing her love in every manner. If she could be described in colors they would be beautiful and vibrant like red because she loved so passionately, blue because she was always able to remain calm, green for her compassion and nurturing, true blue because she always remained loyal and faithful and orange warm for her heart was always full of love and care, she had many beautiful colors about her and her true colors showed her kind, compassionate, and loving soul.
She infused her home with a sense of purpose leaving notes filled with positivity scattered throughout, each one dated and full of life, and whenever she received a gift, she'd thoughtfully record who gave it to her and date it, making every moment count. She was a true protector of her children and grandchildren and always treated everyone equally regardless of the status. She showed her unwavering strength and always sacrificing her needs for family. She was a very patient strong mother, grandmother, and Christian. God and family always came first with her. She was the "rock of the family "although she encountered many changes during her life of 82 years her love here with her family never changed, it remained never ending.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie M. Fowler Walls (Charlie Lewis) of Culleoka; sons, Monty (Mary) Fowler of Columbia, and Stevie Fowler (Kaity Furtaw) of Culleoka; grandchildren, Melanie Stewart (Shawn), Wendy Davis, Amanda Green (Scott Dawson), Coty Davis (Keishia), Heather Baker (Wesley), John Michael Graham, Lacie Fowler, Stevie Shane Fowler Jr., Jeffrey Hall, Kayla Martinez (Nate), Matthew Fowler (Brooke Yokely), Monty Fowler Jr. (Maya Muniz), Dakota Fowler (Alexi Burr), Hunter Fowler (Delta Ambrose), Levi Fowler, Kari Jean Onate, Christopher Potts, Faith Fowler, Ryan Suiter, Brent Stovall (Katy), Brittany Nashell, Harley Boehms, Gracie Boehms, Hadley Boehms, Hayden Boehms, Hannah Mayberry (Tyler); she shared her love greatly to her 56 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Marie Morris, of Columbia; brothers, Roger Dale Savage of Summertown and Johnny Wade Savage (Janet) of Michigan; very special and dear friend, Stella F.
