Bettye Joyce Mobley Patton

Bettye Joyce Mobley Patton, 86, of Mobley's Bend, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. She was born on July 3, 1940.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home, with Ben Diles and John Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will visit with friends and family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Bettye was united in marriage to James D. Patton on May 29, 1964. Her beloved husband preceded her in death on November 25, 2010.

A devoted homemaker, Bettye found her greatest joy in her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished the time she spent with those she loved. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and was always proud to be in the stands cheering them on and supporting them.

She is survived by her sons, James “Jimbo” D. Patton II (Mary) and John “Butch” Patton (Rachel); grandchildren, Cole Patton (Brooke), Morgan Patton (Anna), Max Patton, and Mary-Glen Patton; and great-grandchildren, Neely Patton, Baker Patton, Miley Patton, and Masyn Patton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bettye was a longtime and faithful member of Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ. She had a deep love for her community and dedicated herself to preserving its history and heritage. She was the founder of the Hampshire Museum, where her passion for local history and the stories of those who came before her could be shared with others.

Bettye loved to travel and enjoyed discovering new places and making memories along the way. She had a special passion for researching ancestry and family history. She also had a great appreciation for antiques and the history and memories they carried with them.

Those who knew Bettye will remember her deep love for her family, her community, and her heritage. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, the family history she preserved, and the generations of her family who will carry her memory forward.

Pallbearers will be Mary-Glen Patton, Cole Patton, Morgan Patton, Max Patton, Todd Gilliam, Ethan Foster, Jimbo Bratton, and Aidan Turnbo.
