View Video Tribute Billie Crate Miller, 67, retired from the Parks & Recreation Department in Sarasota, Florida, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his residence on Old Natchez Trace in the Bethel Community. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe Cemetery with Pastor Michael Redding officiating. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Born in Wise County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Crate Miller and Emma Holland Miller. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam, earned the Vietnam Service Medal, with 3 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Marksman Medal. He was a member and served as a Trustee of Bethel Baptist Church and was active in the affairs of the Bethel Community Club, having served as Vice President. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Mae Marsh Miller, whom he married September 14, 1968; daughters, Kari Bussolino of Bon Aqua and Cherie Miller of Sarasota, Florida; son, Mark E. (Sara) Miller of Palmetto, Florida; sisters, Patricia Schnering of Bradenton, Florida and Rose Hunter of Sarasota, Florida; brother, Jimmy Miller of Chester, Virginia; grandchildren, Paolo Bussolino, Maya Miller, and Jazmyn "Marla" Miller; and mother-in-law, Virginia M. Marsh of the Bethel Community. He was preceded in death by a brother, Al Miller.
