View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Billy Ray Hickman, 67, retired from Union Carbide Corporation, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his residence on Horne Hollow Road in Giles County. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Joe Duvall officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The Maury County native was the son of the late Gordon Hickman and Bertie Mae Weatherford Hickman. He was 1961 graduate of Culleoka High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Hickman attended Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Williams Hickman, whom he married August 24, 1962; daughter, Joanna (Bill) Thomasson; grandchildren, Kayla Thomasson, Kelly McCandless, Josh Kincade, Annabelle Thomasson, and Hawkin Thomasson, all of Culleoka; sisters, Joyce (Bobby) Dugger of Spring Hill and Linda (Wayne) Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Doug Hickman of Columbia and Mike (Judy) Hickman of Culleoka; sister-in-law, Maude Hickman of White Lake, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Peggy Hickman and another brother, Jimmy Hickman. Mr. Hickman's nephews and Tim Harris will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Wayne Kincade, Union Carbide Corporation retirees, and the Culleoka High School Class of 1961.
