Bobby Donald Neese, 87, a resident of Columbia, died January 11, 2026 at Maury Regional Medical Center after an extended illness of Lewy Body Dementia.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Foy Smith Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Bobby was born on April 15, 1938 in Lewisburg, TN to the late William Lush Neese and the late Ethel Clark Neese Warren. Bobby attended Marshall County schools, was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army, and was an avid fisherman. His early employment included Norton and Steely and Charles C. Parks Grocery Warehouse where he started out as a warehouse truck driver and retired as a salesman. He then began a new career with Pestco. After retiring from Pestco, he went into business for himself as a self-employed pest technician, “The Bug Man” at the age of 84. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 46 years, where he was the last living founding member.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Neese of Dianna, TN; son, Joey (Peggy) Neese of Columbia; granddaughter Maria Dawn Neese of Long Beach, Washington; two sisters, Stella Elaine (John) Lanning of Santa Ana, California and Fay (Foy) Smith of La Vergne, TN; nieces, Lynn, Felicia, Christy, Debbie, Shirley and Connie; nephews, Foy II, Stephen, Ricky, Gene, Major, Chris, Jimmy, Phillip, Travis, Troy, and Brad; special friends, Carol and Nelson Roberts, Danny, Debbie and Daisy Collins, and the Bingo ladies and friends at Maury County Senior Citizens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley Bell Counts Neese; 2 infant sons; sister, Joan Smith; brother, Clark Neese; and in-laws, Linda and Ray Stewart, and Ronnie, Donnie, Luther, and Smitty Counts.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Roberts, Donald Goad, Phillip Counts, Foy Smith II, Danny Collins, Kaleb Pulley, Kameron “Jack’’ Pulley, and Keith Pulley.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ashlie Brooks Mustoe, Miranda Gray, Darby Mohan, and the other caretakers at NHC.
