View Funeral Webcast Brenda Sue Young Barber, 54, resident of Lookout Drive, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Mack Strange officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Born in Manchester, she attended Columbia State Community College, was a former employee of General Electric, and worked in the gift card inventory department of the Affinion Group. Mrs. Barber was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a member of Columbia Elks Lodge 686, and was formerly an avid bowler. Affectionally known by her grandchildren as "B," she is survived by a daughter, Karrie (David) Hollis of Spring Hill; her mother, Loretta Swann Young of Columbia; brothers, William Randolph Young of Spring Hill and James (Tonya) Young of Pembroke Pines, Florida; grandchildren, Max Hollis and Sydney Hollis of Spring Hill; pet poodle, Gidget; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Young Carpenter Donaldson. Serving as pallbearers are John Young, Joe West, John Carpenter, Tracy Lynn, Randy Churchwell, and Lance Carpenter.
