Bobby Ray "Bud" Chumley, 58, resident of Hicks Lane, died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Reverend Steve Swango officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggest memorials be made to Hospice Compassus, 1412 Trotwood Ave, Suite 5, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 8, 1955 he was the son of Lona Grace Norman Chumley and the late Bobby Joe Chumley. He was employed by Union Carbide for 21 years and currently employed with the City of Spring Hill for over 10 years at the wastewater plant. Mr. Chumley enjoyed riding his motorbike and raising his horses. He loved spending time with his family and was very devoted to his grandson. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Diane Mash Chumley, whom he married September 6, 1974; daughter, Tracy Chumley of Columbia; son, Daniel Chumley of Columbia; sister, Dianne (Larry) Sparks of Johnson City; grandson, Peyton "Doodle Bug" of Columbia; special sister-in-law, Carolyn (Wayne) McCord of Culleoka; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Maxwell, Barry Goad, Layne Warf, Travis Massy, Tyler Borne, and Dale McCord. The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice Compassus, his nurses Nancy and Alice, Dr. Mark Messenger and staff, Dr. Mike and Dr. Joel and staff at Maury Regional Radiology, and to all family and friends for the support over the past few months.
