Burton Whiteside

Burton Whiteside, 95, passed away peacefully Friday, January 1, 2021, at his son’s home in Helena, AR. Born November 13, 1925, in Jacksonville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Effie Mae and L.A. Whiteside. He is survived by his son, Kirk Whiteside, of Helena. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Norma Kirk Whiteside, on June 18, 2008, and son, Mike Whiteside on August 11, 2012. All three were avid golfers, and he had very fond memories of those days. He was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church in Columbia, TN, where he lived for over 75 years. He is also survived by his three grandsons, Michael Whiteside, Ryan Whiteside, and Jeffrey Whiteside, four great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Joan Brown Aydelotte. Mr. Whiteside graduated from Columbia Central High School and served in the United States Marines during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from Monsanto Chemical Company. The family would like to thank Dr. Gibran Naddy and caregivers in Columbia and a special heartfelt thanks to Florene Brown as well as Lisa Montague and Sharron Weir who were with Burton in Helena, as well as the staff of Kindred Hospice. Due to COVID - 19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
