View Funeral Webcast Carl Edward Brooks, Sr., 66, retired automobile salesman and resident of Crestland Drive, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Tillman Odell Brooks and Margaret Grimes Brooks. He was a graduate of Culleoka High School. Mr. Brooks was a longtime associate with Southway Auto Sales and had more recently worked for Bostelman Enterprises. He was also employed part-time at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Mr. Brooks was a charter member of West End Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Margaret Grissom Brooks of Columbia; one daughter, Cindy (Larry) Swafford of Lebanon; one son, Eddie (Jeanna) Brooks of Columbia; three grandchildren, Austin Swafford, Brandon Brooks and Brett Brooks; mother-in-law, Una Mae Steward of Columbia; two sisters, Linda (Ray) Hutcherson and Ellen (Joe) Osterfeld, both of Columbia; two brothers, Bobby (Barbara) Brooks of Columbia; Ron Brooks of Culleoka; and one aunt, Beatrice Boshers of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Brooks and John Brooks. Pallbearers will be Mike Belt, Donald "Duck" Sharp, David Lovett, Jerrel Lovett, Don Howell, Joey Allen, Steve Bostelman, and Dennis White. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Lunn, employees at Bostelman Enterprises, Deacons and members of Adult 3 Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church, and employees of Oakes & Nichols.
