View Funeral WebcastCarl Ellison Douglass, 63, most recently a butcher for Kroger Company and resident of Cord Drive, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Alive Hospice of Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Bishop Ray Pennington, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Douglass and Frances Marie Johns Douglass. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mr. Douglass worked as a butcher for most of his adult life and over the years was associated with Albertson's, Food World, Akin's Market, Piggly Wiggly, and the H. G. Hill Store. He was also associated with Douglas White Florist for a number of years and did floral design work for several of the food stores where he was employed. Survivors include his wife, Rajean Pullen Douglass of Columbia; brothers, Tommy Douglass of Janesville, Wisconsin, John (Shirley) Douglass of McMinnville, and David (Janice) Douglass of Lilburn, Georgia; sister-in-law, Lynn (Randel) Humphrey of Columbia; special friends, Paula Renfro of Mt. Pleasant, Gladys Horner, and R. L. King of Columbia; aunts, Wilma Harris, Kathlene (William) Gemmell, Betty Jo (James) Gilliam of Columbia, Lorene Durham of Antioch, and Irene Adams of Culleoka; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an aunt, Martha Ann Johns. Pallbearers are Tony Usher, Danny Fogle, Darrin Humphrey, Randel Humphrey, Darren Bradford, R. L. King, and Cecil Connor.
