Mr. Carl Edward Turner, 74, retired from ABF Trucking Company and resident of Hillsboro Road in Nashville died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Donalson Skill Care in Fayetteville. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery with Wayne Pagel officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Andrew Blaine Turner, Sr. and Rosa Etta Lentz Turner. He graduated from Culleoka High School in 1953 then joined the U. S. Army. Following his military service Mr. Turner returned to Tennessee and spent most of his life in Nashville. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Glasgow of Birmingham, Alabama and Betty June Gorman of Chicago, Illinois; sister-in-law, Christine Turner of Pulaski; one niece, Cindy Turner; one nephew, Kenny Turner; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Turner in 2005 and A.B. Turner in 1975. Honorary pallbearers will be the 1953 Graduating Class at Culleoka High School.
