View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Carlene Stills Brown, 82, resident of Hilltop Drive, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday after 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to West End Baptist Church, 900 West 7th St., Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of the Mt. Joy Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William T. Stills and Lorena Cocke Stills. On January 26, 1949 she married Howard E. Brown, Jr. of Columbia who survives her. Earlier in her career she worked at the Highland Park Baptist Pre-School. She was a charter member of West End Baptist Church where she worked in the Nursery. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Donald E. "Don" (Trish) Brown and James Otey "Jim" (Debbie) Brown both of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Patricia Gray Brown of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Erica Brown, Brittany Brown, Erika Brown, Hayley (Cody Bevill) Brown, Michael Brown, Jonathan Brown, Brandon (Sydney Latta) Brown; three great grandchildren, Breanna Morhman, Issac Brown, Camden Brown; three sisters, Dorothy Luckett of Mt. Pleasant, Gladys Bickmeyer of Stuart, Florida, Barbara Jones of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and one brother, James (Janice) Stills of Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. 1st Class Barry Lee Brown; two sisters, Evelyn Patterson, Eleanor Stills; and one brother, Sonny Stills. Active pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Larry Kirk, Eddie Prince, Jonathan Brown, Brandon Brown, Pete Ridley, Steven Prince, James Stills and Cody Bevill.
