Carrie Pauline Huckaby "Pud" Holton, 83, former long-time resident of 5th Avenue, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mike Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was retired from Publix Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Holton was a charter member of Northview Church of Christ and former member of Riverside Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Edwina Holton of Columbia and Cynthia "Cindy" (Johnny) Johnson of Spring Hill; a niece, Patricia Wauford; nephews, Billy Ray Huckaby, Ricky Huckaby, Mark Huckaby, and Dennis Evans; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ava Huckaby Gilliam and Winnie Huckaby Evans; and two brothers, Jack Huckaby and Paul Huckaby. Active pallbearers are Dennis Evans, Ricky Huckaby, Charlie Willis, Allen Waufordand other family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include Homer Ring and Elders and Deacons of Northview Church of Christ. The family wishes to express special appreciation to her caregivers, Linda Smothers and Marilyn Combs, Dr. Moatz Toban, and ICU staff at Maury Regional Medical Center for their care and concern during her illness.
