Mrs. Regina Catherine West Gilliam, homemaker and former resident of Walnut Lane went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at NHC Hillview. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Jeff Foster officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Frank Edward West, Sr. and Regina Hester West. On December 29, 1935 she was married to Thadius Hazel Gilliam who preceded her in death on April 28, 2003. Mrs. Gilliam resided in Columbia most of her life and attended Central High School. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was generous and charitable. She always greeted her family, friends and relatives with a hug and a kiss. She was loved by everyone that knew her. Mrs. Gilliam enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. She was an avid reader, composed poems and wrote stories. She was a prayerful person and believed that the prayers that were offered in her behalf extended her life span for many years. She was an active member of West End Baptist Church until she became disabled. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Tresch of Tulsa, OK; one son, Thomas R. (Peggy) Gilliam of Big Canoe, GA; grandchildren, David (Lara) Tresch of Shawnee, KS; Kyle (Lisa) Tresch of Tulsa, OK; John T. (Crystal) Gilliam of Trailside GA; Summer (Chad) Maham of Eljay, GA: Cynthia (Bart) Hubbs of Baton Rouge, LA; seven great grandchildren; special angel friend, Phyllis Wakefield of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank E. West, Jr., William Charles "Bungle" West and Moody West and her sister, Martha Jones, all of Columbia.
