View Funeral WebcastMr. Cecil Ray Greer, 52, former employee of Baird-Ward and InterCo Print Company and resident of Old Williamsport Pike, died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a long, valiant fight against cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bro. Elvis Frierson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 12 noon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN 38402. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Tennessee State University. Mr. Greer coached youth baseball and basketball for several years. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling, hiking and spending time with his grandchildren. He had a deep interest in Indian culture. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth "Libba" Greer of Columbia; son, Cecil Ray Greer, Jr. (fiancée, Nicole Owen) of Columbia; grandson, Cecil Ray A. Greer; granddaughter, Taliya Greer; mother of his children, and best friend, Kathleen Rains Greer; three sisters, Patsy Rybolt of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Shirley Allen of Pleasantview, Teresa Reynolds of Hendersonville; and numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Edwards, Jamie Edwards, P.J. Burns, Brock Reynolds, Jason Reynolds, Jeremy Delk, Luke Johnston and Eric Thurman. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of InterCo Print Company and all former co-workers.
