View Funeral WebcastCharlene Cheatham Wakefield, 74, retired beautician, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her residence on Culleoka Highway. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Highland Church of Christ with Don McKee officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the church. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 26, 1940 in Lynnville, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Cheatham and Pauline Uselton Cheatham. Mrs. Wakefield owned and operated her own beauty shop several years ago in Riverside and later at her residence in Culleoka. The devoted wife, mother and grandmother enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone. Survivors include her husband whom she married July 13, 1956, Charles Leon Wakefield of Culleoka; children, David Lee (Fran) Wakefield and Tammy Jean (Richard) Pilkinton, both of Columbia; Cathy Belinda Drewett of Culleoka; brother, Edward Allen Cheatham of Minor Hill; sister, Geneva Cheatham Thigpen of Rogersville, AL; grandchildren, David Brandon (Saray) Wakefield, Kevin Ray Drewett, Rachel Nicole (Randy) Thompson, Faith Eve Staggs, Austin Richard Pilkinton, Kelton Robert Pilkinton; great grandchildren, Bobby Kaiser, Stephanie Kaiser, Brooklyn Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Jamie McGaw, Alex McGaw; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Ann Steely Wakefield. Pallbearers will be Brandon Wakefield, Kevin Drewett, Randy Thompson, Bobby Kaiser, Austin Pilkinton, and Kelton Pilkinton.
