Charles Jones "Buddy" Baxter, Jr., 65, farmer and horse breeder, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his residence on Love Branch Road in the Hampshire Community. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Steve Robertson and Chaplain Perry Muse officiating. Burial will follow in Kittrell Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of the late Charles Jones Baxter, Sr. and Dorothy Shannon Baxter. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandsons, Landon "Little Buddy" and Logan, riding on his tractor. Survivors include his wife, Candy Young Baxter, whom he married March 2, 1984; children, Jennifer Baxter of Hampshire, William (Tina) Baxter of Hampshire, Christopher "Dusty" Baxter of Villa Rica, Georgia, Charles Baxter, III of Cookeville, Michelle Wilson of Hampshire, and Sherry Hobby of Columbia; sisters, Judy (Charles) Dean of Inverness, Florida and Jean (Newt) Wallace of Cumberland City; eleven grandchildren; special father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bobby and Louise Young of Columbia; special family and friends, Judy Gray, Debbie (Joe) Wiley, Charles "Toe Head" Dale, Mike Lynch, Freddie Daniels, and Barney Fournerat. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Baxter. Active pallbearers are Charles Dale, Mike Lynch, Barney Fournerat, Freddie Daniels, Todd Curry, Jimmy Curry, Joe Wiley, and Jerry "J.R. Diehl. Honorary pallbearers include J. C. Gray and Wesley Wilson.
