Charles Norman Dreaden, 70, former resident of Columbia, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at his residence in Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A native of Houston County, Tennessee he was the son of Lorraine McAulay Dreaden of Louisville, Kentucky and the late Thomas Buford Dreaden. He was a graduate of David Lipscomb High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Mr. Dreaden served in the U.S. Army and Air Force and completed a tour of duty in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. While living in Angleton, Texas he was employed in property management. He later worked for Office Dimensions, Inc. in Hampshire for several years. He was a former member of the American Legion and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his mother, Mr. Dreaden is survived by a sister, Jane D. Johnson of Louisville; niece Sherrye (Scott) Isaacs of Louisville; nephew, Stacy (Tracy) Johnson of Louisville; great-niece, Abby Johnson of Louisville; great nephew, Jacob Johnson of Louisville; and several cousins. Pallbearers include Scott Isaacs, Stacy Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Doug Brown, Gene Voss, Jimmy Voss, Edward Clayton Murphy, and Wayne Voss. Honorary pallbearers will be Carney Wright, Robert Dreaden, Fred Dreaden, James Bass, and Wayne Bass.
