Born on May 16, 1945, in Nashville, Ken was the son of the late Mary and Charles Wiles, and was raised in Madison, Tennessee. He graduated from Lipscomb University and began his teaching career in Maury County. It was there that he met Deborah Meadows, who he married in 1974. He had previously served on the planning committee for the Columbia River Walk, the Board of Directors of Maury County Water System, and participated in Leadership Maury. He loved golf, his garden, and was a bluegrass music fan who enjoyed playing banjo and guitar with other musician friends. He was a devoted member of Graymere Church of Christ, where he regularly participated in activities to serve others and often led singing.
