View Video Tribute Charles Leonard Williams, Sr., 73, retired self-employed painter and resident of Columbia, died Friday, May 13, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran and Dan Buie officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 29, 1949 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Malcolm Williams, Sr. and the late Elora Hill Williams. On February 18, 1967, he married Peggy Jean Smithson Williams who preceded him in death on October 27, 1995. Known as the life of the party, Mr. Williams enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandchildren thought he was cool and he always made everything fun. Mr. Williams enjoyed fishing, taking the scenic routes, and family get to gathers. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Sherry (Mark) Dawson, Angela (Jonathan) Delk, Nancy Cothran (Jason Monday); grandchildren, Dakota Dawson, Shelby Dawson, Cori Beth Williams (Cody Adams), Blake Delk, Chase Delk, Chesley (Arnaldo) Rodriguez, Clay Cothran, Lauralee Cothran, Lilly Cothran, Jay Cothran; great granddaughter, Sophie Dawson; step-great grandson, Andér Rodriguez; sisters, Kathy Johnson, Juanita Buie; brother, James Williams; special friend Kathy Pedrick; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pet cat, Punkin. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Leonard Williams, Jr.; grandson, Colton Wyatt Williams; and siblings, Mildred Williams, Clyde Williams, Shirley Palmer, L Williams, David Williams, Malcolm Williams. Active pallbearers will be Cody Adams, Dakota Dawson, Chase Delk, Blake Delk, Clay Cothran, Jay Cothran, Chris Potts, and Jake Craig. Honorary pallbearers include Dawson Gray, Hank Roberts, Henry Chatman, Chris Williams, and Jon St. Clair.
