Charles Eugene Mayse, 80, retired thirty year employee of the U. S. Postal Service and resident of Osage Trail, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Russ Adcox officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Maury Hills Church Building Fund, 101 Unity Drive, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of condolence may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born and reared in Maury County, he was the son of the late Luther Burton Mayse and Florence Hardison Mayse. He was a 1952 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Mayse was a member of Maury Hills Church, American Postal Workers Union, and a former Mason. He enjoyed being an "Agitator" CB Radio Operator. Survivors include his wife, the former Norma Dooley of Columbia, whom he married October 27, 1960; daughters, Donna Mayse (Paul S.) Varner of Buford, Georgia and Rhonda Mayse (John J.) Garman of Montgomery, AL; brother, Kenneth (Debbie) Mayse of Lawton, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Ronald (B.J.) Dooley of Franklin and James Kenneth (Cindy) Dooley of Summertown. He was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Demastus, Pallen Mitchell, Vera Uzzell; and brothers, James Mayse and L. T. Mayse. Active pallbearers are Paul Varner, Tommy Mayse, David Hardison, Orville Lindsey, Ken Rowe, and Shane Rowe. Honorary pallbearers include Boyd Roberts, Freda and M. T. Potts, Jeweldean and Larry Brown, Lorene and Harold Clark, John Garman, and employees of the Columbia Post Office.
