Charles Matthew "Matt" Phillips

Charles Matthew "Matt" Phillips, 49, of Hickman County, TN, passed away on June 4, 2026.

Born on June 10, 1976, in Columbia, TN, Matt was the son of Charles Randall Phillips and Linda Cochran (Tim) Peden.

Matt was an accomplished stone mason whose craftsmanship reflected his dedication, talent, and strong work ethic. He was a man with a generous heart who loved his family deeply and never hesitated to help someone in need. Known for his kindness and willingness to lend a hand, Matt touched the lives of many through his compassion and friendship.

An avid outdoorsman, Matt enjoyed spending time in nature and appreciated the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for antiques, loved riding his Harley, and possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. Matt was a lifelong learner who enjoyed discovering new things and sharing his knowledge with others.

Above all, Matt will be remembered for his loving spirit, his adventurous nature, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he met. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, Tim Peden, Matt is survived by his son, Josh Phillips; sisters, Amanda (Brian) Pullin and Emily Sloan; and niece, Adilene Carroll.

Graveside services will be conducted at a later date at Old Well Cemetery in Hickman County.
