View Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Christene Runions Edwards, widow of Charles H. Edwards, Jr. and resident of Pulaski Highway, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mrs. Edwards was born in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Thomas Runions and Mary Emler Runions. In June, 1996 she retired as Administrator of Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Pulaski after 25 years of service. She was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and was very involved in church work. She was active in children's athletics. She was a longtime resident of Maury County and was the last of her siblings to be living. Survivors include a son, Tony (Mary Ruth) Edwards of Columbia; two daughters, Marcia (Ron) Everett of Shelbyville, Perre Edwards of Cumming, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Ben (Tiffany) Edwards and Charlie Edwards both of Estero, Florida. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hannah Edwards, III in 1998 and her many brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Ben Edwards, Charlie Edwards, Ronnie Edwards, Mark Runions, Wayne Stacy and Pat Troope.
