View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Mrs. Clara Marie Adams Norman, 81, resident of Wedgewood Drive, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Billy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late W.T. Adams and the late Virgie Mae Pittman Adams Stephens. On June 26, 1948 she married James P. Norman of Columbia who survives. Mrs. Norman was retired from Weather Tamer and had previously been employed at Dixie Manufacturing Company. She loved sewing, playing the piano and violin, but her family was the real joy of her life. Mrs. Norman was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Norman is survived by daughters, Linda (Norman "Buddy") Pewitt of Culleoka, Jan (Doug) Howell of Columbia; sisters, Bertha Barber of Hohenwald, Betty Bigsby and Virgie (Clyde) Denton both of Columbia, Barbara (Arnold) Hooper of Culleoka and Patsy (Bobby) Walker of Trenton; brother, Earl (Reba) Adams of Nashville; grandchildren, Karen Howell, Chris (Kari) Pewitt, Jason Howell, Brandon Pewitt; great-grandchildren, Logan Pewitt and Conner Pewitt; sisters-in-law, Grace Chumley, Marie Cummings, Peggy (Jerry) Davis, Irene Adams, Glenda Adams; brother-in-law, Tommy (Karen) Norman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Adams and Pat Adams; brothers-in-law, Bobby Chumley and Harlan Cummings; and a great-niece, Lisa Fuller. Active pallbearers are Norman "Buddy" Pewitt, Doug Howell, Chris Pewitt, Brandon Pewitt, Jason Howell, and Bud Chumley. Honorary pallbearers include Karen Howell, Logan Pewitt, Conner Pewitt, nieces, nephews, and members of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
