View Funeral WebcastMrs. Clara Mae Malugin Slaughter, 90, former resident of Sunset Lane, retired care-giver and employee of Dixie Manufacturing Company, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with James Dickey and Wilson Jenkins, ministers of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Oakley Cemetery. Born in the Primm Springs Community in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late Dave C. Malugin and Maude McCanless Malugin. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and loved quilting and sewing. She was married May 11, 1937 to Austin Slaughter. Their seventy-year marriage ended with his death January 15, 2008. Survivors include a son, Freddy (Sharon) Slaughter of Columbia; grandsons, Sam (Lisa) Slaughter of Culleoka and Cody Slaughter of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Sara Slaughter and Eli Slaughter of Culleoka; sisters, Cora Lee Beard of Columbia and Viola (Junior) McCord of Santa Fe; brothers, Leonard Malugin of Primm Springs, Paul (Clara) Malugin of Columbia, Boyd (Helen) Malugin of Santa Fe, Thomas (Helen) Malugin of Primm Springs, and Leslie (Ruby) Malugin of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, David Murphy Slaughter; a grandson, Joseph Dean Slaughter; a sister, Willene Roberts; and a brother, James Malugin. Pallbearers are Sam Slaughter, Cody Slaughter, David Rochelle, Randy Roberts, Tim Malugin, Tony Malugin, Loyd Malugin, Billy Malugin, Stacey Malugin, and Jason Malugin.
