View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMr. Clyde Eugene Yeager, 87, resident of Sharon Circle, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David McGregor and Terry Peery officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Gideons International, P.O. Box 663, Columbia, Tennessee, 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the son of the late Otis Eugene Yeager and Jennie Mae Weaver Yeager. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and completed a year of college while in the military. He was first married to Betty Thompson Yeager who preceded him in death March 30, 1967. In 1969 he married Ruth Elizabeth Derryberry Yeager who preceded him in death March 16, 2007. Mr. Yeager was a mechanic and owned and operated Yeager Automotive for many years. Upon his retirement he continued his love of mechanics by working on old cars, lawn mowers and most anything with a motor. He was a member of Gideons International. Mr. Yeager was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Robert Alan (Janie) Yeager of Franklin; five daughters, Beverly (Houston) Jones of Spring Hill, Faye (Henry) Miller of Hampshire, Melissa (William "Butch") Ellis and Malinda (Alvin) Luna both of Columbia, Mary Ann Balcer of Flint, Michigan; a brother, James (Peggy) Yeager of Columbia; special friend, Minnie Barnes; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, A.D. Yeager. Active pallbearers will be Larry Yeager, Jeff Yearwood, Dave Cummings, Hunter Yeager, Brian Schmitz, Steve Ellis, Mike Yeager, Woodrow "Woody" Horton and Donald "Duck" Sharp. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Gideons International and the Highland Park Super Seniors Singers Choir.
