Cora Lee Malugin Beard, 84, homemaker and resident of New Highway 7 for the past twenty years, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in the Primm Springs Community in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late David Crockett Malugin and Maude McCandless Malugin. She was a long-time member of Hilltown Church of Christ. In 1945, she married Ernest Glenn Beard who preceded her in death May 23, 1992. Survivors include grandchildren, Kimberly Hill (Mark) Turner and Wilburn Glenn Hill of Columbia; special sister, Viola (Junior) McCord of Santa Fe; brothers, Boyd (Helen) Malugin of Santa Fe, Paul (Clara) Malugin of Columbia, Leonard Malugin of Primm Springs, Thomas (Helen) Malugin of Santa Fe, and Leslie Malugin of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Hill; sisters, Willine Roberts and Clara Mae Slaughter; and brother, James Malugin. The family wishes to express appreciation to Home Health of Middle Tennessee for their care and concern during her illness. Active pallbearers are Glenn Hill, Mark Turner, Marty Lockhart, David Rochelle, Bruce Odom, and Justin Odom.
