David J. Alexander, 75, retired employee of General Electric and resident of General Roberts Drive, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar and Rev. Rush Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Bonnertown Cemetery in Lawrence County with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Born in Rogersville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Arlin Alexander and Forthie Corum Alexander. He was a graduate of Loretto High School and earned an Associate's Degree from Northwest-Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell, Alabama. He served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Alexander was a former employee of Jones Homes Furnishings and Alexander Furniture Store in Columbia. His favorite pastimes included playing golf and fishing. He was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Marie Clayton Alexander of Columbia; daughters, Amy (Steven) Hickman of Lynnville and Lori Alexander of Columbia; son, Michael (Ashley) Alexander of Goodlettsville; brother, Rick (Jane) Alexander of Hampshire; grandchildren, Adam (Ali) Hickman and Sarah Elizabeth Alexander; sister-in-law, Delana Alexander of Two Egg, Florida; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Vicky) Clayton and Ray (Elvina) Clayton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Deryl Alexander. Pallbearers will be Jerry Clayton, Ray Clayton, Harlan Kelley, Steven Hickman Adam Hickman, Glenn Alexander, Charles Alexander, and Michael Massey.
