David Wayne Hudson, 79, a resident of Williamsport, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. A private funeral service for immediate family and loved ones will be conducted Saturday, March 21 2026 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Born October 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Clarence Hudson and the late Vivian Irene Alward Hudson. David proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors, where he worked as an operator technician and team leader. On August 17th, 1976 he married Josie Leos Lopez.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Josie Leos Lopez Hudson, he is survived by his son, David Jacob Hudson; step-daughter, Nadean Swarthout; grandchildren, Matthew Hudson, Charleston Hudson, Alexa Jones Bolton, James Swarthout, Shannon Swarthout, and Jamie Swarthout; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Bolton, Paisley Bolton, Pilot Bolton, Isaiah McMillan, Juliana McMillan, Arianna McMillan, Lakyla McMillan, Dalynn Bullock, Zavion Bullock, Autumn Bullock, and Wiilie Lynn Dixon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, James Dean Swarthout.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Uribe Sr., Richard Uribe Jr., Billy Uribe, James Swarthout, Rudy Lopez, and John Lopez.

David’s life was spent in service to others. He served his country in the Vietnam War and served his family by being a devoted, son, husband, father, brother and grandfather. Never seeking anything for himself, he felt joy in being the solid rock for his loved ones to lean on when he was needed. He leaves a void that cannot be filled and a legacy to all who knew him of a man who seen his place in the lives of others as an honor and he held himself duty bound to support and cherish the one’s he loved.
