Donald Eugene Knoepfel, Sr., 60, resident of Scott Hollow Road, died Friday at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jimmy Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery in the Culleoka Community. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Ave., Columbia, TN 38401. Mr. Knoepfel attended grade school and high school at the Bismark schools in Illinois. He was retired from Saturn Corporation where he was a dedicated and hard working electrician. He was also an avid outdoors man who enjoyed woodworking. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Holly & Blackie. He was a NASCAR fan and loved giving to charity's. Mr. Knoepfel was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Paris, Illinois. Survivors include his sons, Donald (Lisa) Knoepfel, Jr and Daniel (Rachel) Knoepfel both of Culleoka; daughter, Michelle Knoepfel of Columiba; mother, Joan Wheeler of Tilton, Illinois; grandchildren, Levi Knoepfel and Bayleigh Knoepfel both of Culleoka; brothers, Jerry Knoepfel of Collison, Illinois, and Duane (Cindy) Knoepfel of Ocean View, Delaware; sisters, Marilyn (Mark) Nickle of Oak Wood, Illinois, and Malia (George) Richardson of Muncie, Illinois; mother of his children, Helen Drummond Knoepfel; and several nieces & nephews. Active pallbearers will be John Massey, Daniel Hensley, Casey Potts, Mark Nickle, Duane Knoepfel and Brad McMasters. Honorary pallbearers include members of The Columbia Fire Department.
