Doris Jones Bassham

Doris Jones Bassham, 90, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens, with Jeremy Butt officiating. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born on May 16, 1935, in Maury County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Frank Jones and the late Katie Wright Jones. She married Charles Bassham on September 22, 1956, who preceded her in death on January 9, 2017.

Mrs. Bassham was a 1953 graduate of Haylong High School in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. She retired as Vice President of Maury Federal Savings & Loan after 30 years of dedicated service. For many years, she volunteered alongside her husband at Maury Regional Medical Center, where she was honored with recognition as a “Super Star” volunteer.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Walt Banas of Marianna, Florida; niece, Heather Banas of Marianna, Florida; and cousins, Pete Wright of Duck River, Tennessee, Wanda Wright of Columbia, Tennessee, Janice Haithcoat of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Lisa Piper of Franklin, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Banas.
